Introduced in 1977, the Christen Eagle II was the brainchild of aerobatic pilot and entrepreneur Frank Christensen. His aim was to offer a refined aerobatic kit aircraft that almost anyone could build. The sporty two-seater proved so successful that a slightly modified single-seat version became the aircraft of choice for one of the most recognised aerobatic demonstration teams of all time — The Eagles aerobatic team, featuring Charlie Hillard, Tom Poberezny and Gene Soucy. The team flew the aircraft from 1979 to 1995, performing for audiences at air shows around the world.
